hairy mushroom unraveling?

I have a hairy mushroom that from what I have been told was splitting normally and all of a sudden started unraveling like an old sock. It has since completely unraveled but the "thread" Still has bright green very pretty pieces. What happened?????? Thanks

my hairies like medium light an medium flo. i keep them half way up in a 75g..with PCs
