Hairy Something

On a pc. of rock I have what I would say looks like hair Algae with the following characteristics:

* Small clump attached to one point at the base not actually covering a more spread out portion or the rock. Kind of like a real feather duster but not a feather duster worm because it does not retract.
* Strands are very thin hairs that started out in color as a light tan and as time goes on they are turning red.
* I though last night I would just reach in and pluck it off of the rock. When I squeezed between my fingers it slimed me like a mushroom or ric does when you pick them up and would not pinch off of the rock like a PC. of Algae would.

So do I have a small clump of some type of hair Algae morph, or is this some type of unknown to me coral?

Looks purdy! As long as its not behaving invasively, I'd grow it out and see if you can get some better pics - are those divided tips I see on the right?. If it's "producing" mucus - well, it sounds more like an in invert of some sort, but some macros' are slimey.

If it hasn't been in the tank very long, give it a little bit of time and see what happens (unless it starts popping up everywhere).
