Had another night of clear skies so I took this at 5:58 pm CST. This one is 48% crop.

After seeing your photos, I realized that I had to try to take a photo of the moon, too. Now, not having a 500mm telephoto lens, well, this was what I could do:

With a 100mm macro lens ( :) ). Thanks for the inspiration!

A 500MM with a 1.4 Extender which gives me 700MM and with a 1.6 crop factor camera if my math is correct 1120 MM. My expierence is when shooting the Moon go manual on everything and mirror lock up,and a remote shutter release.

You were right, the mirror lock-up and remote release helped. Doesn't hold a candle to yours, but it makes me happy to try new things. Thanks again!

More manageable than the 600MM in my opinion , 8.5 lbs. compared to the 600MM which is around 11. something lbs. able to handhold the 500MM for my aviation cant do that with the 600MM. But all great pieces of glass.

Please?

Please?

Hey, ahuxman85, could I get the full version of those for my computer's background? It's widescreen, so if you could crop it wide enough for widescreen or send me the full, I'd appreciate it a ton! They're amazingly clear photos. What did you use? Just a telephoto lens or through a telescope?

When we ban one of your usernames but miss one, it's generally a bad idea to draw attention to yourself. ;)
