Half TBS rock only?

I'm looking at all of your testimonials, and the great pictures and threads in this forum about your rock.

But, "the package" is expensive for me, so I was thinking, could I get about 10lbs of TBS rock, and the other 30lbs from my LFS? Will the TBS rock eventually make the other rock look as nice and literally "alive"?

You could buy some "live" rock for the base from your LFS, and purchase the Part II rock Richard puts in the packages to put on top of the base rock.

Anything grows and spreads with the proper amount of care. I've read posts from people who have had their TBS rock for years and it has fused together because of the growth.

Compared to my nearby LFS the rock from TBS is much more reasonable especially for the quality received.

TBS rock is fairly cheap, so if you can only get 10lbs, the shipping charge will probably make it too expensive.
