Ihave recently noticed that I have lots of this stuff in my sump almost covering the live rock. It's a mix of yellow and pale pink. Does anyone know if it's a good or bad thing?
Will it smother the live rock to death and also prevent pod growth etc?
I hear the its best to give live rock a load of flow to keep it doing its job. Just wondering if I should scrub the sponge of the rock or just leave it as it is.

Here is a picture of my live rock, I would say only about 10% are covered like that

Holy cow. Do not remove that sponge! It is as good, if not better, at filtering and harboring beneficial bacteria as the rock itself. It will not harm or clog the rock in any way whatsoever. Some sponge can outgrow coral but rarely does so and instead tends to live symbiotically with most corals.
Leave it! Spread it around your tank and help promote it's growth.
