I see you have a plan now but just for another perspective, here is what I have done with my low canopy. I have 2 175W MH bulbs and 2 96W PC bulbs. I made the reflector out of flat sheets of polished metal, and I have glass over the tank to protect the bulbs and two fans to control heat. I also use a chiller but I need that even without the lights on.

I built an 8" spacer for my 120 Canopy to get the halides off the water.
