Halimeda algae growing in display

My 75 gallon tank is not even two months old yet. I have some softies and a couple LPS. I have a single piece of live rock right in the center that has Halimeda growing like crazy. I was picking it off but let it go out of curiosity for about 2 weeks and have maybe 8 sprouts that are at least an inch long and seem to get a little bigger every day. Is this stuff going to spread? It is kind of cool looking. Should I leave it alone? I recently added an algae scrubber will it eventually outcompete it?

This is the same rock the day I introduced it and picked it all clean. It has an open brain attached to the end of the rock that has also grown considerably so I don't want to remove the rock and scrub it off.
