Halimeda opuntia

I have a cactus algea (Halimeda opuntia) that is getting pretty big (about the size of a softball). My maroon clown is pulling it down over his territory kind of like curtains. The cactus algae seems to like this and is getting disproportional to the rest of the tank. Can I simply prune it? Can it be transplanted?

yes it can be transplanted, feel free to break off a piece and insert it into sandbed. it will grow roots into the sandbed. once the roots are grown you can pull that piece from the sandbed and rubberband that piece of halimeda (roots against the rock) and it will attach to the rock.
i've done this sucessfully many times. hth
