Hamilton 14000k bulbs

I am thinking of changing my 175 watt 10000k mh bulbs and going to a 250 watt 14000k hamilton to add more wattage and eliminate my need for my pc actinics.anyone out there using this bulb and do you recommend it ???? thanks for the feedback.

Last month I changed my Hamilton 175w 10k to the 175w 14k. It took a little bit getting use to the blue, but I like it now and think you will be just fine with your switch.

I just put a 400w Hamilton 14k on my 40g sps tank last week. I'd been running 4x96w PC's. I like the look of the Hamilton a lot. I do agree that you probably won't want/need your actinic supplement anymore.

I had setup this tank moving from a 55g breeder to this 90g and was using the T5 11k with Blue Plus supplimental lighting, so I guess you could say it was close to a 10k setup with supplimental lighting. The first picture is the tank with the 10k type of lighting and the 2nd picture is now using just 2x250w MH 14k with no supplimental lighting. You will love the 14k type bulbs, they are not to blue at all after they burn in. I have my MH bulbs sitting about 10" above the water line.

I've been running 400 watt 14K's for over a year now and quite pleased with them. I don't use any actinic's...just enough blue for me.

I loved using my 14k Hamilton's. They start off pretty blue but burn in just the right color to my eye. :)
