Hi just wanted to ask my hammer coral looks like its starting to bleach a little.I have had it in the tank for about 3 weeks now the lights i have are the Nova Extreme light fixture 6x54 T5 bulbs its about foot and a half below the lights do you think it could be getting to much light or maybe it needs more light what do you think thx

if your coral isnt doing well as in opening up and spitting brown stuff then move it... it can be to light and flow and water parameters

I think the lighting situation should be fine. It also depends on what kind of lighting the hammer coral was kept in wherever you got it from. If it was kept under less intense lighting, you may have thrown it into light shock, causing bleaching.
Like ILoveReefer mentioned, hammer corals don't like a whole lot of flow - just enough to have the tentacles gently sway ought to be enough. Too much water flow will cause the heads to not open, and maybe even recede.
Maybe try moving it into an area of slightly less intense lighting, and less flow (if need be).

I keep my lights on from 9am to 5pm. I got the hammer from my lfs he
just had it under 216 watts of light and was about 6inches from the light. I have been moving the hammer around my tank trying to find a good place where there is low flow. My hammer does open up all the way i put it at the bottom of the tank but i had like 6 off his tentacles reaching strait up like it was searching for more light so i moved the hammer back up in the middle of the tank

I would place him high up in the tank. Low to moderate flow. Don't worry to much about the bleaching, it sounds like he's trying to adjust to his new surroundings. Placing him high up in the tank will allow him to adjust a little faster. In a month or so then move him lower if you like. Good Luck
