what would be no so safe to place a hammer coral by? i currently have xenia, some shrooms, green star polyps and plays. thanks

I personally have seen mine sting a pagoda cup coral. Othere than that, they play well with other soft corals and anemone's.

First, nothing stands a chance against a LPS coral with the exception of anemone's which are the stinger king. LPS don't naturally have stingers (also known as sweepers). They grow them in response to a percieved threat. If you direct your flow and keep the hammer from touching things you may not have a problem. But once the coral senses a potential threat you may see some stingers develope. They are long, thin and straight unlike the normal tentacles. On the end are cells called nematocysts which hold an alkalline poison which is the same as their digestive juice I believe.
