Hammer making a comeback?

I had a hammer die off on me and being the procrastinator that I am, left the skeleton in tank for the last month. Recently I was looking at it and noticed what looks to be clear polyps budding from the ridges. Look just like when they bud new heads from the skeleton. Anyone have a euphyllia come back from the brink or am I just seeing something else?

Could be real. I have two frogspawn that I thougth were just skeletons but now have complete (kind of weird looking) heads

Any Pictures? this peaked my curiosity lol. I had a SPS skeleton on some live rock I got from the Gulf of mexico when I lived in Florida. after about a month or two in my tank I noticed some polyps extending from the skeleton. never seen this happen with a LPS before

Could be. When I had a torch, I'd have babies sprout off the skeleton down low. They'd never survive because the main colony shaded them too much, but they were definitely baby torches.

Figured id update this thread for those who are curious. Several buds coming off the dead skeleton. Originally there was NO visible tissue on the skeleton and I normally wouldn't have thought twice about tossing it. I guess the moral is don't give up on your euphyllias right away lol!

congrats! its like coming back from the dead! I will remember not to clean that stuff out for awhile if its "dead"

It was about a month or so before I noticed the buds. In the mean time the skeleton looked very very dead. Haha it makes me wonder how many euphyllias I've thrown out that could have come back. Maybe I'd still have my gold torch lol!

sweet deal! I recently lost a 2 head hammer due to a spike in salinity and the person i left to care for my tank while I was gone for the weekend forgot to top off the water with RODI... got home after 3 days and was down about 2 gallons due to evap. ni a small 20g like mine that raised the salinity from 1.026 to 1.038....

looks like Ill leave the skeleton in there for awhile haha

Cool! A head of my hammer is not looking good for a month now, almost all receded (other stuff are doing fine). This gives me hope. :)
