Anyone own one?
What is your thoughts?

my thoughts are: Well I think It takes time to test but in the end I think very accurate. they say it is within 6% of reading. I was having big issues with my tank and to find out I been dosing too much calcium the whole time (540) was the issue. Now that I have calcium under control my tank looks a lot better, I think the regiment is costly$$ but I can live with it. I hope soon my apex will read cal/alk
Anything digital I Guess is nice!!

I have the Alk. Checker, to me it seems complicated to use. I test less than I probably should because of the nuisance factor.

The alk is the easiest it's 10ml of tank water in each vial and 1ml of the solution in 1 of the vials that's the easiest test you can ever do

I have Hanna checkers for Alk, Cal and Phosphates.

The Alk is by far the easiest to do.
The cal does take some time bc you need rodi water, test water and the packet but I feel it's accurate as well. As long as you take your time and measure to the T you'll get accurate results.

I don't remember more than one vial or "cuvet", but it's been a while. I know that compared to my Milwaukee PO4 colorimeter, the Hanna checker was a pain to use. I say this because I still check PO4, but haven't checked ALK in a long while.

I have the ca one but never use it. I've always found it inaccurate but I've only done the test a couple of time. I may try again because it turns out my RSP kit tells me my cal is at 325!

The Alk checker and phosphate checker are great since very easy!!

Nobody else owns the calcium checker who can give me a review who actually uses it more than 5 times ,LMAO??
I don't get one step in this meter, that is you only add .10ML of your salt water from your tank and the rest of the water In the vial is plain RODI so how can 2 drops of your water be that accurate?

I've been using it for a few months now. That's correct. I thought it was wrong for so long until I looked up the video on YouTube. 1 ml of reagent a then fill to the line with rodi. Then zero out. Then .1 of saltwater ( test water). I fill to .5 and drop it to .4 it's literally 2 or maybe 3 drops. Then pour packet. Shake hard for 15 seconds. Wait 15 seconds then test. Make sure you get the meniscus

I got a 589 on my hanna tonight. Followed exactly that... Red Sea which i suspect needs newer reagent tested at 350. API measured 450 which is where it should be and was about a month ago. Alk is fine and things are doing ok.. For the most part.

I know I'm doing something wrong with the hanna...youtube time..

I had the same issue INEVO.... something don't make sense with this Hana
I am having trouble keeping SPS alive and my calcium is 540 and the Salifert is 400
so am I high or am I low?

I can't win!!!

I used it for a bit but found it was impossible to get consistent results.
I would have to do 3 tests and average out the results to get a ballpark figure and that # never matched my Redsea or salifert tests.
I pretty much gave up on it. I remember few threads popping up last year with people having similar problems.

I ordered a new red sea kit. I've always had consistent reproducible results. I'm concerned for these recent low numbers though, lets see what the new tests say at end of the week...

I too own one, but haven't used it as yet. I got it last year during BRS Black Friday sale. I had no idea it was difficult to use. I've learned a lot on what to expect so far in this thread. Can't say I'm looking forward to using it.
