Hang on back skimmer

Best hang on back skimmer for packed 75gallon reef with SPS? Best for the money- around $200 or less. Why? I like using multiple skimmers-- such as a bakpak and a prizm on the same tank. opinions on this?

i HAVE A CORALIFE 65 MODEL WITH NEEDLEWHEEL ON MY 75 SPS AND IT WAILS........ lOVE IT AND SO DOES SPS.....

Do you have pics?

I need to look for a HOT skimmer for my 29gallon tank, last time I looked around AquaC was the only somewhat decent option. Right now I have marginally perfoming skimmer (think it's an old Visitherm, I could be wrong though) that needs replacement due to performance.

About 6 months ago I sold my 125g reef and along went the skimmer (don't have the money right now to keep up with a large tank) and along went the EV180. I kept this 29 g and such will be my tank for a few years until my family finances improve, so skimmer needs to be HOT, reasonably priced and within the service for a 29g FOWLR tank.

What other options are there within the above criteria?

Thanks for any comments...by the way, this is my first post in probably 1 or 2 years, I've really been away from the hobby!

Deltec MCE 600 or ATB multi use. But they are $500+. I used to have the Deltec and the ATB looks great.

So most of you are familiar with the bak pak... does a deltec pull double what a bak pak pulls? I use a bak pak and a prizm on my 55 sps. I hooked up a drain line on my prizm and think it pulls more than my bak pak... maybe 1.5 times as much.

Been happy with the Octopus HB300F. Skimmer box and overflows tube is allthat is in the tank. Needs cleaned regularly but pulls quite a bit gunk from my 75

I have the Coralife 65 and it works great on my 29. I have it hang on back, it takes up a lot of room and is a bit of an eyesore in the tank , but it works great, best skimmer for the money

From what I have seen the Deltec MCE600 was the best HOB on the market for a while. Now with the ATB multiuse I would say it has a competitior. While both are in the $500 range they will blow any coralife superskimmer (modded or not) or a prizm out of the water.

I would look at the aquamedic multi or new blue series less money and they do perform. Have one on my 180 tank skimms well and consistently

From the last days research, I think my best bet in the price range of not higher than 200 dollars would still be the AquaC Remora, might have bought it the other day if the LFS had it on stock, apparentely they sold the only one they had that same morning...

I've also been looking at the Octo skimmer, but the one I would go for is beyond the $200 limit (HOB with the pump inside the skimmer and the surface skimmer piece). Has anyone used a Remora and the Octo that could comment? They seem to be in short supply though, not many places carry them for what I noticed.

My inclination is towards the Remora with an almost draw on the Octo and somewhat behind the Coralife (been reading they're prone to overflooding).

Thanks for your comments,

I dont like the Aqua C Remora skimmer.. It was inconsistent, loud, and never pulled as much as I thought it would. I had the BakPak and it pulled more than the aqua c did. You should look into the Warner Marine hang on back.. A bit more than your budget, but probably much better than the other skimmers that have been listed (exception being the way more expensive deltec and atb multi)

I also thought the Remora was loud, and completely agree that a warner hob while a bit more than your budget is a much more worthwhile investment, but quite honestly I don't understand why you are looking to purchase a HOB skimmer for a 75g sps tank. I think you would be much better off drilling the tank, and putting an swc or octo extreme in the sump. I don't understand your paticular circumstances, but IMO this is a much better option.

I'm also a bit non-plussed with my Remora. It is a bit noisy and doesn't draw as much skimmate as I had hoped for. I'm thinking about upgrading it in favor of something else on my 46 and had been eyeballing the warner marine skimmers... anyone have personal experience with them?

I do not, but check out excompany's solana. You can find it here and on nanoreef. He went from a Deltec to a WM and seems to like the WM more. If you google it you should find it easily.
