Anyone using Red Sea Berlin Turbo X2 HOB? I'm looking at these updated HOB skimmers and trying to decide on one.
 
Why not get a indoc tunze skimmer? Those would be awsome and you wouldnt have to worry about hanging the skimmer since theres nothing to hang. The tunzes is put inside your tank and from what I have seen they don't look that big. I have heard great reviews on them you might want to check them out.
 
ive been looking for a good hang on skimmer for awhile and ive realized one thing everyone on here has a different opinion so it makes it very hard to choose, because of that i now have a back pack a remora pro with mag 7 pump and a bermuda hopefully all 3 can get along better than u people lol
 
The cpr bakpak is plan junk, owned it for 7yrs all I got was light green tea, it sucked big time. The octopus smokes the cpr bakpak, and at a cheap price aswell. I am glad you took up that offer. The lfs that was selling you the bermuda rogue +a mag 5 for 250 is a sweet deal. If that store was near me I'd jump on it. You wont have to swithc skimmers even if you upgrade to a 100gallons, hmm you also have a bonus you own a mag 7 which would also do wonders on the rogue.
 
I don't think its a wise idea to throw 3 hobs on the tank, the bermuda alone can deal with your tank. adding more hobs doesnt do anything I believe
 
really i would think that it might if there at least spaced around plus i dont think the bermuda or the bac pak will skim the surface like the remora. by the way ive been thinking of sending my bac pak to my freshwater tank will it work on a freshwater tank i would think it would
 
Its not going to hurt having three hot skimmers on there besides the eye sore. The surface skimmer on the remora is nice......if it could only skim. The rogue with the mag 5 seems to be the winner as far as pump's go. I think the mag 7 will be to much, but since you already have it, wouldn't mind seeing how it performs. And no your bakpak won't work on your FW tank.
 
I like the Tunze DOC skimmers, but I have 2 inch Eurobrace so it'll take addditional 4 to 5 inch inside my tank plus the 2 inch Eurobrace. Will get in the way of my lighting fixture.
 
I"m looking at Fisson Power Skimmer rated for 210 gallon new Needle Wheel Impeller with overflow drainage. LIke the T1000 Turbo Flotor also. Debating between the two. Close price range.
 
I found out there is alot of complains on the ocean runner 2500 water pump that comes with T1000 Turbo Flotor. Noise, overheat issues. Some users had to upgrade to Eheim 1260 pump with modify venturi to make it skim better. Anyone had this experience?

I personally dont like the turbofloater the OR pump is quite large and hangs inside the tank, i would look into the MCE 600 its $$ but it will be all the skimmer you need without the drawbacks of pumps hanging in tank. they can be found used semi regularly, otherwise I suggest you wait and see what ATB comes up with.
 
What if we're talking about a nano? What suggestions are there for hob skimmers? Considering that space is already limited, and you're trying to optimize what little is left.

What size tank? do you mean an all in one nanocube? or a small tank?
 
I have been running a Turbofloater for the past 4 years and can't hear anything outside of a light hum from the water pressure in the body of the skimmer. Definitely quieter then my Euro Reef's sedra 5000 pump. Like GSMguy said the pump is large but it is not loud.
 
What pump did you have, Rio 2100 or Ocean Runner 2500? Did you use it as hang-on and not too much adjustment needed?
 
I agree with Bryan the OR are silent compared to the mags and rios the magdrive pumps must be like living in a construction zone 24/7 in the reef.
