Hanging a LED light

I just purchased an LED light and i wanted to hang it from my ceiling. I live in Buffalo and apparently i don't have drywall on the ceiling it is some type of cement or plaster, i tried using a stud finder but it didn't read at all. Has anyone had any expeirence with hanging a light from this type ceiling? I don't want to just randomly drill holes. thanks

Research tapcon.. they may work.

Another option is drilling a hole in the concrete, hammering some dowel into the hole and sending your screw into that.

AmherstReef has the best idea if not an island setup and you have a wall behind aquarium like most.

Yeah, how heavy is it? If it's old plaster/lathe, you can just use eye hooks if the fixture is light enough. They'll grab the lath behind the plaster and give you some decent contact. That's one nice thing about plaster/lathe, there is something behind it to anchor to

I took some conduit and bent it ...put some JB weld on the joints and painted it black...mounted it to the back of my stand and hung my fixtures from it....looks nice...pics upon request

The fixture is about 11lbs. I like the eye hook idea a bit. Once i figure it out ill post a pic

Thanks for all the responses
