Hanna Instruments Digital Seawater Refractometer

I don't have one, i'd like one it's a very popular instrument to test your PO4 and will give you much more precise numbers than a liquid test kit. I'm waiting to get mine until I start a bacterial dosing regiment.

I wonder if it can be calibrated with the Pinpoint calibration solution? The description says to cal. with distilled water. If it can only be calibrated with distilled water, I be concerned about its accuracy. I think I'll just stick to my $30 refractometer.

This seems like over-kill to me. Of all the stuff we use in this hobby a decent optical refractometer is a simple to use, fail-safe device. It's all but impossible to misread. You can get a decent one for under $60. And no batteries required. I just don't see the advantage.
