I remember a group buy for the hanna meter several months ago - I did not have the money at the time but now would be interested in getting one - does anyone remember the price and if there is any interesting in getting another group buy together? or if not anyone know where there is a cheap place to get them mail order?

cool - maybe there is enough interest to get another one together - hopefully whoever it was that organized the last one will chime in and let us know the price and help us set up the details - I know that at most places they are going for about 225, but I think the group buy price was somewhere around 150 or so - I also recall that there was a minimum # needed as well

I ran the last group buy. We had several people which gave us a great discount, not to mention Jose's mad scientist tester he bought:). I am not interested in doing another group buy but I am sure someone will step up.

Good luck with it! Its a nice peice of equipment to have.

Jim - were they drop shipped to each house or did you have to ship them all to one place? (I live in sw michigan 90 miles from downtown chicago - used to live in chicago) - if they are shipped to each and every house, maybe I can see if some of the michigan reefers are interested as well - also how did you do payment? did it all get put in one bill or was everyone allowed to pay separately?

Thanks Sara. When I did mine and before I started my online business I went through a local dealer. I ordered them through him, he placed the order through Hanna, and Hanna drop shipped them to each buyers house. It went smoothly. If you want the details pm me and I will provide them to you.

waiting to get further info - see the link in sara B's post to see what they got for pricing before - hopefully ours will be similar

OK I have some pricing info:
167 for the meter
20 for shipping
25 for 100 reagents
65 for 300 reagents

212 shipped with 100 reagents
252 shipped with 300 reagents

The price might go down further if we get enough people (I'm not sure of the threshold at which it will do so yet though) - we have seven that have expressed interest so far including myself

cool - spread the word because the more the order the better the odds that we will all get a better price

I am curious how accurate this tester is versus the D+D high sensitivity test kit. Anyone have experience in comparing the two?

Bryan

I have never used the D+D test but the Hanna is very accurate and repeatable. The Hanna is a low range test which is what is needed to measure PO4 in an aquarium. When I was using the Salifert test kits I would always get 0 reading and then I would test with the Hanna and got 0.06 :(.
