Hanna tester...reliable?

Hi,

Wanted to see what your input on these testers are? The reading would be easier but are they reliable?

Thank you

I've been using Hanna Alk and Phos. been using the same unit for about 2 years now. Cross checked with salifert a few times and it is still spot on.

Hanna Alk had some reagent issue last year that made results go off chart, but besides that, everything is still good.

I have heard many users saying Hanna goes off a little after years of use. I like to cross reference every few tests to make sure.

I also use ALK and PO4, Ca I don't bother because the steps dont really save time over other cheaper options.

I also keep a backup brand to cross reference every month.

Been using P04 and Alk for 2 years as well, so far so good. Bought NYOS to cross reference last year, and got same results.

I think most wrong test readings are from user errors. When I got weird readings I found out that the bottom of the test tube/bottle have this dried water spot, from then on, I always make sure clean that part nicely.

The unit itself reads very well, but I feel like Hanna's reagents are subject to more recalls than I think there should be. The dilutions required for the calcium checker makes it prone to poor accuracy, but the Phosphorus and Alkalinity Checkers work well when the reagents are good.
