hanna testers

i am kind of excited as i never had a good routine of testing, because i dont like the color tests and i never liked doing all the other tests,

so i went and had arc order me in some of the hanna meters i am getting, the phosphate, alk, and most likely the calcium meters all tomorrow.

hopefully i will stay on top of my testing now as these testers seem pretty straight forward and i like the digital read out..

anyone have any comments , tips, suggestions as to these testers?

I love my alk checker! I think i may go get the other two as well.

LMK how the calcium checker works out! That is the only one that had mixed reviews.

I store the little glass test tubes with water in them so i don't have to clean out water spots from the inside each time.

Pinch the top to open the meter. If you just try to pull it open you can pull the entire meter out of the base(maybe mine was not glued in).

Hi I've used their phosphate meter for years, the full sized one pre dating the checkers. It's a good tool. The calcium checker gets poor reviews. I have never tried it.

TIps: Keep the vials very clean and dry. Mix the reagent with 2 minutes of gentle shaking, then take the cap off and re dry any dribbles before putting it in the device. I understand ther are two versions of the checker for phosphate one has a better accuracy rating than the other .

I use the po4 tester and like it but the alk tester for my never gies the same result twice.I will place into the meter and get a result the with the same test sample get a totally different result

i was reading up on the phosphate and the phosphorus meters, i see arc uses the phosphate checker so i am going to go with that one, i guess its a little less percise, but it should give me a good guide as to where i am at and where i want to be.

Hi if you don't mind me crashing the party I would love to come over and see the testers as well as I would love to go fully automated PM me any time thats good for you

G ,
I think the checkers are just as precise as the larger meters but there are two models of the checker at the same price IIRC and one is rated with a better range of accuracy than the other. I bought mine before checkers were avaialble or I would have bought a checker and saved some $.

I have both the Calcium (bought an extra by accident) and the Phosphate checker. I will get the Alk next once my salifert is almost out. I really like the digital read out since I was going by color thinking I have 0 ish phosphate but then remeasured with the Hanna and it was 0.92 and I was wonder why I am having some RTN on my Montis.
