Looking to get a Blenny for my 75gal tank to help with my Hair Algae problem can anyone recommend the hardiest most efficient algae eating type ?

I would assume the lawnmower blenny. I've never had one so I can't say for sure.

I have a tailspot blenny that has a huge appetite for algae. He cleared off two koralias, cords, heater, rocks in a little over a week.

As long as you get one that has already taken to prepared foods, any of the combtooth blennies commonly called "Algae Blennies" are hardy.

Lawnmower Blennies (Salarias fasciatus) are awesome fish for algae. If you want more flash, look up Starry Blennies (Salarias ramosus).........

Bicolors tend to nip at all types of corals. But your sig says "FOWLR". To be honest I've never seen/heard of a bicolor eating algae.

hawaiian algae blenny. either zebra or marbled. they are found in tide pools and i have caught some when the water was easily 95 degrees or more. you can't get any more hardy than that! Plus they get some nice colors!

I have had a Bi-Color, IME they do not go nuts for algae. My girlfriends Tail Spot when crazy for any kind of algea.

My bicolor will eat film algae off the glass (fail to wipe it for a few days, and I'll have blenny-mouthprints all over it), but I've never seen him look twice at hair algae (or corals, fortunately) (knocking on wood).

What about 2 blennies in a small tank? I currently have a Midas Blenny but I want an algae blenny too, but my tank is only a 65g tank.

If I got a Lawnmower Blenny and sall going well it stripped the tank of hair algae.....could I feed it freshwater Algae wafers to supplement its diet or is it a completely different set of nutrients ?
I al;ways have a plentiful supply of these for my FW tanks....

You can feed it sheets of Nori to help supplement its diet once the GHA is gone.

Though you should only get one that is eating. Ask the Fish Store to feed it before you buy it. That way you know if it will eat or not.

Lawnmower Blennies in most cases also grow accustomed to eating any food you put in tank. Especially flake food, pellets, frozen foods, etc. Mine eats anything. When first got him took him about a week or so and then would eat whatever I was feeding tank. I would say his favorite is flake food. Mine even goes to top to eat it off surface.

I have a 60 gallon (36") with a midas blenny and a tailspot blenny. The difference in size makes them get along. The midas kinda has his spots and the tailspot has his/hers.
I never thought they would eat algae but the tailspot is a algae destroyer.

Golden Sailfin Blenny

Golden Sailfin Blenny

These are great additions to the fish tank -- just like lawnmower blenny but with great color. They're getting hard to get -- even online stores are out of stock often.

Crazy thing is, even though this is an old post is, my midas will graze on my frag racks eating film algae. But then again i wouldn't doubt it because he is a little fatty.
