Will they eat basket stars?

They only eat the tube feet, and I don't think basket stars have tube feet, but they might harass it. If you're attempting to tackle the extraordinarily difficult task of keeping a basket starfish alive, you definitely don't want to be keeping anything that'll annoy it.

My Harlequin Shrimp did a great job on the Astrea starfish but have yet to even touch my Serpent Star. Maybe they had easier food with the astrea but its interesting.

Harlequins don't eat serpents.

They don't eat crinoids either.

I have one harliquin and she is always hungry and is growing like crazy. I just bought another one but its so small hoping they will be a pair because I still can't tell if the first one is a male or female. I had a basket star before years ago and had him almost a year. Was thinking of trying again.

Stars are the only thing they will eat so be sure you are ok with it before buying. There aren't any alternative foods unfortunately.

If it's any comfort, starfish don't have brains and don't feel pain.
