Anyone have luck with a harlequin in an acryllic tank? I would like to get one for my 250g but I'm concerned it would scratch it too much and I'd spend more time buffing the tank than enjoying it.

I wondered that myself. I did buy one and have it in quarentine right now. I would have to imagine it can happen and I have heard of it but not often. I bet if you have one that sees it reflection and it gets agressive it could bite at the acrylic. I am going tag along to see what people say since I too have an acrylic tank.

I just introduced one into an acrylic tank. We'll see how it works. So far I have not had any issues with it

Mine is from Divers Den also. He is about 7" of the most laid back fish.

Mines 6 in's and likes to spit water out at me when I look into the tank. Here is a pic of mine. I just haven't been able to get a pic of my own yet.

We'll find out soon enough here. He picks at the sand but has shown not interest in chewing on the tank. Could be a fish dependent thing?

I hope so. I hope someone who has personally had one that had chewed on the acrylic chime in. I will also find out soon.

I have a 5" tusk, but in a glass tank. However, I've never observed it trying to nip or push towards the front glass during feeding time.

Although, I do have a puffer that always nips toward the front of the glass during feeding time :)

Sorry, that's about the only $0.02 I can provide.

I've never owned an acrylic tank; but a similar question appeared on this (I think it was RC) forum and a few people said their tusk scratched their tanks. I've seen tusks scraping LR in a way that certainly would scratch acrylic. Fantastic fish though!

I had a tusk an ct in an acrylic tank for about 6 months. The tank got scratched to h_ _l. I actually caught both fish scratching the tank with open mouths. Moved them both to glass tanks. Hard work polishing that tank out.

Mine scratched my 3 month old acrylic tank really bad over 4 days had to pull him out for some reason he hated his own reflection gl on yours will never get another one even though he was one of my favorite fish
