Has anyone bought these lights?

it looks like a new style Odessa, but for the price with free shipping sounds like something to try and if not happy with it sell it here on RC for small lost. also seller has many positive feedbacks from buyers. you may want to replace bulbs in six months with better ones maybe the actinic much sooner with a better brand. If you do buy it please let us know with pics etc.

I'm considering these as well. It's this or an eight bulb T-5 fixture. 250w halides look appealing, but I would imagine that the included bulbs, well, suck. I'd like to keep SPS some day and halides are proven technology for doing so. The only think that sucks is the area of light that they cover in the tank. I'd like to be able to spread my corals all over my tank and not worry about weak spots or shadows. T-5's give a better distribution of light, but I still question their penetration (plus no shimmer). Sorry to steal your thread and not answer your question, but I'm in the same boat as you are.

thats totally fine, i have a diy hood with 2 175watts mh and 2 110 vho's but my vho's ballast went bad and i tryed to replace but i think i fried the new ballast, so i thought i would sell it and get this one. seems like a good deal, and i figured the bulbs would be crap but for the setup its not bad.

Yea, aquatraders sell teh same light and it's cheaper, maybe around the same with the shipping. I myself bought two new 400w MH fixtures 14k bulbs, ballasts and everything for $320, and think its a better setup then the odyssea, i just can't risk it personally.

I've read a lot of "buy at your own risk" threads related to Odyssea lights (I have an Odyssea PC fixture) and I have the same issues with risk. Half price lights sound too good to be true. It's either the greatest deal or the biggest scam. Like other products, I'm sure that one person will own one for several years with no problems and someone else will have it arrive broken and never get it working right. Comparable halide setups are way over priced IMO and going retro + actinics will probably end up being the same price (even more with known brand components). I think that I'm going to buy one of these next month. I'll let you know how it goes. I'll be saving money for my electric bill until then. haha.
