Has anyone housed a Clown Tang and a Sohal Tang together?

Hi guys,

I'm new to Reef Central but not new to the hobby. I have a very successful 250 FOWLR with a nice 4" Clown Tang. Lately I have had the Sohal Tang itch and would like to put one in. My Clown is a bossy fellow but doesn't violently attack anyone. He has been doing wonderfully and I know the Sohal will probably stress him, but I'm not sure how much.

Can anyone chime in and give their opinion?

Thanks!

I've seen them kill each other in larger tanks than that. Same size, my money's on the clown, if the sohal's bigger, it might win. If you're extra unlikely, they do enough damage that neither survives.

How big of a tank MIGHT this work in?

It MIGHT work in any size tank; just depends on the odds you're willing to take. ;)

I've seen it fail in a 500g, but I think you're getting into the reasonable chances range here where it can be worth the shot. I've seen it fail multiple times in 300g tanks.

dont do it.. itll be so much stress for them theyll die.. those are the most aggresive tangs ive ever owned... itll be like a UFC match in your tank

Yea I'll pass... I'm very successful with multiple angels.. zero fighting and they all swim peacefully with one another. I think this is a another level though!

Thanks for your feedback!

I have seen this work in a 1000 gallon tank. However I don't recommend it as the Sohal becomes progressively more aggressive.
