has anyone seen these new light fixtures?

wow, that price is extremely cheap! I'd think it would be enough although you may not be able to keep all SPS under 175 bulbs although I could be wrong. PLEASE keep me updated if you do buy this. Like one person on there asked, it seems to good to be true.

EDIT: I just talked to someone about these, and they said they don't last more then a year and are just complete crap. He also said they overrun there bulbs (IE using a 150w bulb at 175w) This isn't from me but a person I talked too.

As many threads as i have read, I have to agree! Junk/ not to be trusted. No experience with them and will be keeping it that way.

I do have an odessey light. I did do research on it first. They did change a lot from their 2005 to 2006 model. The 2006 does come with a guarentee now and they do honor it. I have had my lights for 6 months now and have had no problems. The old versions were not UL listed but the new balasts are, atleast mine. I will keep everyone updated as to how they preform, but I can say that I am happy with them as of now.

It looks identical. The ballast is on the big side though but not a problem if you can hide it away. I got mine from an internet dealer vice ebay. Not sure how the warranty works with the ebay vendors. I will say that everyone i have talked to had the problems with the older style light, the newer styles might not be better but odeyssa got a really bad reputation from the old style. Still buyer beware

is it a bargain if it burns your house done? i would rather spend the extra $$ and go with a well made unit with a proven track record

Thats fine, I'm not trying to sell any products here. Please don't take it that way. I'm just saying they have/had a bad reputation and the new product line is much better then the old. Reviews of the new models are much better then the old.

I have the new model and it seems to be working great. I will be the first one to come back to the board and say "I was wrong, you were right" if that is the case.

you get what you pay for..........I had a Odyssea light fixture and they are garbage!!!!!! The balasts are junk the bulbs are cheap and they wont last

I have not seen the new ones, So maybe your right . I was just going by what I have heard I'm not trying to bash anyone but I hate to see somebody buy a cheapo version of something and spend there hard earned bucks only to have to buy the real deal further on down the line and end up spending double

I totally agree. I didn't take it that way. I was just sayign that I took the chance from what I read about the new fixtures and so far they have worked out well. I will of course keep everyone posted

saw them used personaly did not even like the color temps they gave u, for theses fixtures..

any peace for now,
ps i would spend the extra $$ and go for better stuff, makes all the difference in groth......and that fixture u could keep alot of different corals, But none of the Very High light ones, they would really suffer.......

not promoting this brand but i have had one (211w mh version) for over a year. I immediately changed the bulb for the 14k Phoenix (note to self...time for a new bulb... 10K?) and have been satisfied. It was my first light and although it hasn't given me any problems, when the time comes to upgrade everything i will buy a better unit or DIY it myself. Consider it a "beginner's brand".

I'm gonna go with the OuterOrbit 48" 2x150 halide fixture 2x130 antics...

Hopefully this is a better fixture !!!

I own 2 Current USA light fixtures. I woulds caution against buying them. The company has no service and the ballasts are junk.

well it has to be better then the other light...

as long as it works, good enough for me...

on the other hand what fixture is actually good then ???

Krazy K can hook you up with a contact for a 48" outer orbit brand new for $580 shipped. If interested? Its not enough light for my needs and know of someone selling it.

Krazy K has 1st dibs
