Has anyone tried these lights

there is a whole discussion about those lights somewhere around here...

the problem with these lights is that they have an issue with their ballasts. the stated 250w is not really what they deliver. that is not to say that you will not have success with growing corrals under them, since many people do.

you should know exactly what you are purchasing. now, they have a 2009 model that is roaming ebay, which may or may not be any better.

YMMV

Basically the ballast isn't pushing out the full 250w to the halides.

That is an Odessa fixture. I have the same version but bought from a different seller. I have had nothing but sucess with it. No problems what so ever. My only complaint would be that I wish it had more fans in it. It has several air vent opening as you can see but only one fan, although mine doesn't seem to get hot at all. Then agian it is the middle of winter, I may change my mind this summer. The fan has a separate plug in which I wish it didn't and just came on when needed to. That isn't a big deal but would be nice to have one less cord to plug in.

I would not shy away from it. The ones from the LFS and online vendors like F&S sell for over $1000. Over time if you want to upgrade your ballast, do so. You will be more than happy with it in the long run IMO.

I miss typed. I meant and odyssea light. They had issues in the past but worked them out. You can research that brand to see exactly what you are buying.
