Thinking of trying one of these. Has anyone here used one? If so do they work.

I have not used one. But if nitrates are an issue try using a nitrate sponge media in a 300 micron silk bag in a medium flow area of your sump. Works enough to keep nitrates at zero for me. Looks like with that filter you'll need a media of some sort. Might as well just save the money and use a free silk bag that comes with the nitrate sponge that will never break down on you. Just my two cents.
