Has anyone used this?

if you are going to spend a thousand dollars on a camera, why not get a real deal DSLR and then have a ton of flexability?

Haven't got to play with this camera although I'd really like to.

Have you thought of that? Of course, after you buy a lens or two for your dslr you'll likely be well over a thousand bucks but you'll have greater flexibility too. Guess it depends on what you want to do with the camera. If you want to own a camera that does everything you're probably better off going with a dslr. But if you want a camera that you don't have to worry about lugging extra stuff around and has excellent image quality this might be the ticket.
It has some neat features- especially that lens, but it has some downsides too. The huge size of the RAW files coupled with slow write times make it somewhat cumbersome. It's recommended to shoot in RAW format for aquarium photos- so you'll have to work slowly there. The accessory lenses weigh two pounds! That seems awefully heavy.
Macro performance is not stellar- 97x64mm minimum coverage area.
Aside from that and some other somewhat minor things, that was it for negatives in the review I read. If you haven't already, take a look at this excellent review.

:D Already have the first version of the Canon Digital Rebel.

Looking to see what kind of experience people had with the Sony. I agree that the camera does seem kind of heavy to the left of the hand grip from the reviews. Would be uncomfortable after awhile of shooting. Thanks for the link Greg it was good reading.
