Has Southdown ever been available in the Chicago area?

I went in to the Gurnee store after calling around to see which stores had the old castle stone aragonite play sand. You have to be persistent and get ahold of the gardening dept. manager to get the transfer to happen. Once you locate it within the market (greater Chicagoland area) it can be tranferred between stores at no additional charge. I got 15 bags.

Is that the one on Woodward Ave?

I got mine in downers grove.

Yeah I think thats the one, its the one near the arbys and the dead kmart. Kinda near deep reef. They told me they get it every spring. But that was a while ago.

I used to call on Home Depots in Illinois and Wisconsin and I was told they stoped carrying it last year. I've been in quite a few over the past year and a half and have never seen it. Good Luck

I could be wrong, but I am under the impression that the plant that they used to package from was wiped out in last years hurrican season. (That may also be the reason that they are no packing silica, but i didnt think that silica was a suitable play sand? ).. Its justsomething I heard through the caulerpa vine, so take it for what its worth

I would order a whole pallet and pay for it all upfront. But who would sell to us?
I can't get a hold of YardRight and HD doesn't have any idea what i'm talking about.
I found contact info for OldCastle, But what is the name of the aragonite sand? They sell a few different types.
