Hatching your own Brine Shrimp

I'm trying to hatch my own brine shrimp. I'd like to have mine look like what I buy @ the petstore. How long /how old are they when one would buy them at the LFS to feed your fish? How do they get so PINK? I tried hatching my own before- followed the directions to a "T". I am using a countertop hatchery from a modded 2l soda bottle. I've always questioned the freshness of the eggs in those containers. I'm sure that could be a factor!

Any experience along these lines???

eggs are usually good for more than a decade, so that's usually not an issue. it takes about 6 weeks to grow them to adulthood, and the pink coloration is from the extra iron needed to carry oxygen in 1.035 water.
no fishstores grow their own, it's to cheap and easy to get utah brine to make growing efforts worthwhile. if they're selling gray brine, they're old and of very little nutritional value.

I used to hatch them out in 2 liter coke bottles then tranfer them over to a 20 long with 2 jungle sponge filters on them running gently (cleaned every couple days, 1 every other day). I fed them flieshmans brewers yeast (yellow and red packet used in baking), it's a live food when activated. water changes are a pain to do, but required as needed (moniter ammonia levels). keep the salinity high.

they will also eat green water(dts phytoplankton) Ive had some grow larger than my larvae in my fry tank, but the yeast sounds wayyyyyyyyy cheaper.
