Have a question about my brain coral please :)

A few months back I received what I believe to be a favia brain coral as a freebie. It had no indication it was even alive until recently when it started to grow a lot. I had it at the bottom of the tank and then I puttied it to a rock and moved it up a little higher where it has done so much better. My question is, I am thinking it is an encrusting coral so if I have it on the rock, is it going to follow the shape of the rock? or will it grow into its own shape no matter what is underneath it?

It will follow the contour of the rock. (Assuming that the coral ID is correct.)

If its a favia, be careful how close you place it to other coral. My favia has 4" sweeper tentacles that come out at night.
