Have an Ich Problem

Hi,

I have been in the hobby only a year now and have been getting lucky I guess because I have not had an Ich problem until today. I have a 100 gallon tank with 7 fish and a bunch of inverts and everything has been great until I put a small tang yesterday. I woke up this morning and noticed he had small sand looking things on his fins and body. I tried to catch him, but so far, have had no luck. If I cant catch him, how do I cure it and keep it from getting to my other fish? I have a canister filter running with an in-line UV sterilizer, so I hope that will help, but dont know what to do! I would be grateful for any advise. Thanks

Already too late the parasite is in the tank now..so no way to be 100 positive that the other fish won't get it. +1 for putting new additions into quarentine. IMO the only way to treat ich is to remove all fish to quarentine and treat with copper..there is a great sticky on the site..leave the main tank without fish for at least 8 weeks to break the cycle of the parasite. Many others use other ways, but for me this is the only way for peace of mind in the future. HTH.
