I drilled a tank with an internal overflow. i only have one piece of PVC draining the tank.

does anyone else have this setup? or am i crazy for not having 2 drains just in case something happens?

i was thinking of drilling another hole and having a piece of PVC just over the water line in case something happens, what do you think?

ya, i think i might want to do that. I have made good progress though, i have all my plumbing ready, im just waiting for my baffles to be cut today and then i can make my sump.

I might wait until after i start work on the 10th to come out there so i can kill two birds with one stone, but if i get stuck waiting ill let you know. you almost ready to drill yours?

If you are stuck, my wife works in WC. I could do a house call on the way down to get her. I'm waiting for bulkheads before I drill. The website has the hole size, but I want them in my hand...

If it's easy for you, drill two and do what you said. I have the oceanic drilld tank that has two holes. One is for the return line, but I just put a standpipe on it that is slightly higher than the "main drain". It has saved me when somehow TWO mexican turbo snails made it into the main standpipe! (One shell had apparently been in there for months, the second was live and I managed to save it!

Thanks.. Since everyone says it's easy. I will go to HD this week and buy a tile bit and try it :) . What size of bit did you use?

Don't know what size. I'll post the part # when I get home. If you have access to a Rotozip the extra torque may be useful.

I have the Costco "dremel" :D ($24.99).. I use the 19V drill with the diamond bit and it works great. Just want to try something else. I should be able to use the tile bit w/ the regular drill right?

This is the bit I used.

I should be able to use the tile bit w/ the regular drill right?

My lawyer advises me not to respond to this question, however I would think that you would have similar results, as it is a similar bit.
And I would be VERY interested in your impressions.

if it is a dremel like tool it should work. when goslugsgo and i drilled my tank, we tried a regular drill and it was too slow.

so as long as the "drenel" dremel like tool you have spins super fast it should work.

Chris, how often do you go to walnut creek? ill be home all day until the 10th and im the first exit in benicia. so if youre going to be comin through let me know

cool, if you dont mind swinging by before give me a call, 707 332 3610.

its like a 2 minute detour so if you wanna come before you get her thatd work for me, or after... if that doesnt work i can always come back out there too
