Have your clams ever been injured?

I have a beautiful purple rim 6" deresa - my first and only clam. A couple of weeks ago a snail fell from the top of the tank right into its mantle. Of course the clam shut and crunched the snail. The result was a bruised mantle it appears. The clam wouldn't expand that part of the mantle for a few days but is now expanding the whole mantle as before. The only sign now is that the area is a little whitish but that is fading a bit.

Will the white area eventually disappear? Do clam mantles scar? Thanks for the info.

I have had the same issue with snails as you have had. The mantle on my Maxima was actually torn. It went white and didn't open for a week. Eventually it opened again and the white torn area eventually healed and looks great again. If you look real colse you can see the pattern has a little warp in it. If that is what you mean by scar then yes it does leave a "scar".
