Having a tank drilled

Do you guys know of a good and reasonable place I can go to have a tank drilled?

Not sure of where you might get that done, but you can do it yourself as several members have some diamond hole drill bits that you could borrow.

What tank are you trying to drill? I expect some members could help you with that, if you wanted to do it yourself. It is really not hard to do.

Hmmmm.....now that might be another item the club could purchase for member use, a complete set of diramond hole bits.

i have the bits for 3/4" - 1" - & 1 1/2" bulkheads (forget the actual bit size) that i am planning on donating to the clubs equipment....think i mentioned that to wayne at angela's

i figure they get used very little when somebody buys one & they tend to last for quite awhile (as long as you keep the bit well cooled when drilling), so why have 3 or 4 people w/ the same size bit that only gets used a few times & then just lays around....

I actually heard that the club purchased a set of diamond holesaws a few years ago, but they seem to have been lost, as no one knows of them now. It would be cool though.

Personally, I'm not sure that it would be a good idea for the club to purchase them (simply because they're expendables and IME they don't last real long... maybe 8 holes MAX and each successive hole takes longer than the last to drill), but thats a board meeting discussion.

Anyway, its really easy and straight-forward to do yourself, sal-t-dog. Just take your time with it and keep it cool and you're fine. And you can actually just spray it with a spray bottle to cool it and it will be fine. I drilled my tank vertically and had my wife spray it every 10-15 seconds (which was probably almost too much) and it didn't even get warm to the touch.

I have a diamond bit to fit a 1.5" bulkhead. I just drilled my tank and it was cake! You are welcome to it, just let me know.
