Hawaii to allow fish harvesting

It appears the list of fish will be small and I bet they monitor very closely. As far as price going down, maybe a little. Take the yellow tang. Years ago it was a twenty or thirty dollar fish. One of the most common fish and just about everyone had at least one. They were overfished. JMO the price not going to go down much.

Correct from my understanding too. This I got from the article - Only yellow tang, kole, orangespine unicornfish, potter’s angelfish, brown surgeonfish, Thompson’s surgeonfish, black surgeonfish and bird wrasse would be allowed to be taken, under the plan.

I spoke with 2 wholesalers directly today, one of them who was on the phone with a Hawaiian Collector. They are expecting fish to start shipping the first quarter of 2023. And they are expecting additional fish to be on the list other than just those listed.

Prices aren't going to be old days. Expect initial shipments to retail with prices similar to Biota Captive Bred.

No permits or licenses have been issued . It’s isn’t a done deal and they don’t know when and if it actually will . But it’s a step in the right direction
