Hawkfish vs Gobies and Blennies

It is getting time for me to add some fish again. I do not currently have any of these fish. Recently I have had bad luck with gobies and blennies and wanted to try something new for a pearching/bottom type fish. Everthing I have read has said Hawkfish do well in reef except for some inverts and possibly small gobies and blennies. Plus, they are very friendly, colorful, and entertaining fish.

My worry is that if I try out a hawk, am I making it impossible to come back and get a goby of blenny later? My tank is a 120g with alot of rockwork and a shollow sand bed (1 to 2 inches on average). Thanks.

I had a large Bluespotted goby and added a Flame Hawk. No issues with either. Recently, I added a Green Canary blenny. Again, no isssues. I think the issue with hawks and gobies/blennies is the tiny ones. I have issues adding any small (1-1/2" or smaller) fish, I think my CBS may be eatting them. So, I always look for bigger ones. If your tank was smaller you might have an issues with aggession. Now, maybe I'm lucky. I had a Longnose Hawk with blennies and gobies and no issues either. From my experience the Flame and Longnose aren't too agressive. Now the other cheaper Hawks, might be another story. If you want a goby, I'dadd it before the hawk.
