Hawkins enchinata

I'm thinking of buying a Hawkins enchinata and read somewhere you cant dip it in coral rx. Has anyone had success dipping it in bayer insecticide?

I just went through an 8 week process of dipping all my acros every 7 days for AEFW in Bayer. My hawkins enchinata never lost color. Just try to not bring it out of the water at all or just for a few seconds.

In my experience, the issue with the Hawkins is not the type of dip you use. The coral is very sensitive to being out of the water, so be as quick as possible with keeping it out of the tank and it should be fine.

I'm sure it's the dip that kills them or the duration of it. I've killed two frags with revive. I've also had mine out of the water several times up to 30mins with no problem, just don't let them dry up of course.

I bayer dip everything. I have done probably 20 species and lost none. Sometimes SPS doesn't even retract it's polyps.

There are different measures but I do 2ml of Bayer to 2 cups tank water for a 5 minute dip. Never had any issue at all.

And this is why I rarely visit RC anymore. Attitudes still reign supreme here I see. BTW we all call it a Hawkins echinata around my parts as well.

Exactly...and I just couldnt take it anymore without saying something.

Sorry to the OP.

That's like calling a Formosa a lokani because someone made an error and didn't correct it.

Would you keep calling it Formosa when it apprently is not just because that's what Ora named it a while ago?
