Its pretty pathetic that someone cant even get through a single pages worth of posts from people trying to answer their question with good informative information without someone, whos cherios were obviously pi$$ed in this morning, sticking out their big arrogant chest explaining to everyone how much smater they are than the rest of us juvenile reefing pions. Not sure if you noticed, but my first scentence was a run on, care to correct that? Complete and total clown!! Anyway im glad you asked this question because i too recently picked up the ora hawkins ECHINATA and i havent dipped it for the very same reason you mentioned. I think ill keep it sans dip just to be on the safe side

Not correcting but trying to inform people like you and the poster. A lot of people don't know that Ora made the mistake and go on thinking that it is a echinata.

To answer the op question. Coral rx works okay but can cause damage to smooth skin acros. Bayor has been really good at preventing this and I haven't had any deaths so far. The only thing I would advise is not to use revive like others have stated, it can work really well but is harsh on sensitive acropora like the Hawkins.

Agreed 100 %! Making corrections to mis identified acros is not too much to ask. So, from what I can understand I can name a montipora cap as a star monti digitada and if others follow then its ok because it's a generic name and not an attempt to ID the coral. The biggest peeve I have is Hawkins ehcinata sounds like an attempt to ID. I think it should be corrected as just a Hawkins Hawk, lol it sounds dumb but better than calling it an echinata.
Btw I use Bayer 5ml @10 min in 1cup tank water works for all lps, softies, and sps smooth skinned deep water corals included.

So ORA really is a guy named Dustin who is very good at growing and selling coral, and in my opinion a noble gentleman who is doing great service to our hobby by supplying us with fabulous corals that are not taken from the ocean. Now having said all that I want to agree with K.boom that names can be important especially as the hobby progresses and ORA has a chance to really "step up to the plate" if they were to start properly identifying their corals. Mind you coral naming is a controversial issue even for scientists as the field is only just gaining popularity, but I want to go on record as saying I think properly naming a coral is a worthy endeavor, BUT Monsieur K.boom, where is the citation of genetic analysis or professional study that shows the Hawkins to be an Acropora Turaki and not an Acropora Echinata? And, please keep in mind that I ask not out of derision, but out of respect.
As to the OP, I have never lost a coral dipped in Coral Revive, but then I never allow the coral to stay in Revive for more than 2 minutes and I follow the dilution directions precisely.
