So yall gonna think I'm due for a trip to the funny farm but this is what's goin down like it or not... :D

Stupid, stupid Prizm Pro Deluxe skimmer is coming OFF my tank and the.... wait for it.... dreaded SeaClone is going back ON the tank. I've had it. Three months of tweaking and adjusting the Prizm and I'm simply not satisfied with it at all.

It either wet skims WAY too much from my tank or it dry skims without any actual accumulation in the gallon jug it's drained to. No in between.

I've had the SeaClone for years and had decided to leave it off when I moved last year much to the satisfaction of an alveopora I had before the dreaded tank crash in fall. Man, compared to this Prizm that SeaClone used to remove a LOT of nasty perfect skimmate. It's going back on. I'm sure my SPS will appreciate better skimming and if my purple goni I bought a few months ago dislikes it and goes to coral heaven then maybe I'll start saving for a REAL skimmer upgrade but for now I'm working with what I've got. Stupid prizm cost me more than the SeaClone, go figure. Stupid murphy and his stupid law need to retire already.

K, bring it on... :D :D :D

On a side note... I didn't intend on buying the purple Goni... it was sold to me as an Alveopora but upon counting tentacles once I got it home I found that Alveopora it is not...

I have an Excalibur HOB skimmer that I've been really dissatisfied with that looks a lot like the Sea Clone. I drilled it last night so that it will be fed by the overflow and have a MJ 1200 re-circulating pump on it. Could be an idea for you if you have a sump. I had it leak twice before the mod, so I definitely would not trust it now as a hang on. I still have no idea where or how it leaked...

Good info, thanks. :)

My Seaclone leaked on me in prior use one time but I fixed that by buying some new O rings from Walmart as the size that came with it were a bit too small or just worn out or something. It's been in storage since January... just had a hard time taking it apart right now but I put a teensie bit of veggie oil on my fingers for the O rings, put it all back together and it's working like a charm right now. I do, however, need to try to find a replacement flow tube as I got a teenie tiny crack in the connection end (black connection, not actual tube crack) trying to get it apart from the pump... luckily the cracked part is underwater in the tank but I'd still like to get a replacement as I know it'll all have to come apart again when I clean it next time and I'm sure that crack will get worse when I start twisting everything. Did I mention Murphy and his stupid law already?

i have the excalibur HOB skimmer...
never had it leak...yet...
it's an alright skimmer...
but would love to see the mod...

i have nothing to compair it to, so i wish i could help ya out...

try drilling a hole through the center of the collection cup lid and running an air stone(wood block)down through the throat you should se some drastic results.my sea clone 150 is hanging on the side of my wash basin in the laundry room.I bought a sump off of ebay that came w/ a skimmer and it was set up like a sea clone and thats what i did and man you should smell the stinky green that comes out of my tank.

A quick tip for the prizm skimmers, add a valve to the airline to control the intact. It lets you dramatically improve the efficiency of the skimmer by controlling both the water & air input. I picked up a bag of ball valves for about $4 at Pet World in greece about 6 months back and the difference was amazing.

for your reef you love, why not spend a little cash and get a real skimmer? then you wouldn't have all these headaches. i'm sure you could find one on used drygoods selling forum ;)

Glad it's working out for you. A friend of mine that owns a coral store in Florida actually says the seaclones are very good for the money. I think he's the only person I know that isn't all about the $400 skimmers.

I got sick of messing around with mine though, and really wanted a recirculating skimmer. I got a Pacific Coast skimmer for like $200 I think, (pricey skimmer knockoff) and I'm very happy with it.

If it aint broke, then why fix it though?

Here's a link to what this thing looks like... I was surprised at the size when I received it as it's definately bigger than the picture. :D It's in new condition other than I need to clean it a little and does include the surface skimmer, media basket, pump and all pictured.

Prizm Pro Deluxe

The one I have is the "Up to 300 gallons" version which I purchased new from them on 2/19/06 for $149.99 and the receipt is available via email or in person.

pm if you are still interested as I was considering putting it on Ebay this weekend.

Anyway, back to the Seaclone... It's already producing some nasty again after almost 24 hours of breaking back in. Some day I may upgrade but for now I'm sticking with what I know works for my tank. :D
