He popped this morning....

Peka,
I have never seen our seahorses dance, I just see a fat tummy on our male. only once have I been able to catch the release :(

What, if any, are the warning signs he is going to release?
How long is he pregnant?

We have a pair of H. Redid and H. Erectus....

I'm sorry you haven't seen the dance.. It's really beautiful to watch. The gestation period for reidi and erectus is normally around 14 days and they normally release a warning fry a day or so before the big event. A sign of labor is twitching very hard.. Once you see it you will recognize it. You could consider putting them in an intank maternity tank.. (a 2.5 gold fish bowl with one flat side cut out and mesh siliconed over it for water exchange) when it's close to that time. Just make sure if you do this that you watch to make sure the horse is eating.. some do and some don't. If they don't this is not an option....I hope that helps

Thanks Peka,
So I should start counting as soon as I see his tummy inflated, right?
I look every day for warning babies, but I never see them :(

We have also seen eggs on some of the decoration in the tank.
We have 1 female & 1 male H. Reidi, 2 female & 1 male H. Erectus, in a 30g tall tank.

Our H. Erectus is doing something funny this morning, he is laying on his side on the bottom of the tank. No heavy breathing, and in a few minutes he is up and swimming like nothing is wrong....

I don't get these seahorses, LOL!

It's hard to say because sometimes they are just puffing their pouches and showing off to the ladies in the tank. Some seahorses become reclusive when they get preggo... watch for that too......
