Recently came across this info: Loyalrogue and u guys involved in the group buy, u may want to explore this issue.
BTW I finally got my tunzes and should be here midweek so if anybody is interested in the #4 korallia that i was testing be more than welcome to contact loyalrogue.
received an email today saying they are recalling the Models 2 & 3. There are no problems with the Model 1 or 4, and they did not state a reason for the recall of the Models 2 & 3, just simply stated that they were recalled.
I cannot speak for all vendors, but we received the email directly from Hydor about the recall. It is possible that there have been different "batches" and this pertains to the "batch" we received, no other details were available.
We will be recalling the Models 2 & 3's we have already sold. If it is a universal recall I suspect Hydor will notify the other vendors and they will have their own proceedures/policies. As for the ones we sold, we will exchange or credit them as the customer wishes. I believe we are expecting a new shipment of Models 2 & 3 near the end of the month.
i sent a email to marine depot as that is where i got my koralias and this is the reply i received
I was told by my supplier that Hydor found a problem with the 2 and 3. The 1 and 4 are fine. It seems a batch of motors did not seal well and if water gets into the motor you could get a shock. Hydor will replace all defective 2's and 3's. You will need to return them to your place of purchase and as soon as the new units arrive from Italy, your retailer will replace them. They expect to have the new and improved units by early April.

Thanks for the warning.
I'll be contacting Premium Aquatics where our order was placed to ask them for any additional info on the recall.

Yes, I spoke to a rep from Premium Aquatics and they directed me to their thread here on RC: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1053816

I also called some other vendors and am getting mixed responses.
Some are claiming a noise issue, some are claiming a voltage issue, some are saying it's strictly a voluntary recall by vendor, others are saying it's an across the board thing.
One thing they have all agreed on is whatever the problem, it's only shown up one one out of a thousand pumps in Europe, with only one case in the U.S.

I have written to Hydor in Italy to get it right from the horse's mouth, but because of time difference I probably won't hear anything until tomorrow at the earliest.

John, I spoke wrote them about this issue last week, just saw it on the threads......its typical of a new product roll-out. Basically its a voluntary recall if your has an issue return it for an exchange.

I won't hear back from Hydor tonight as it's 2am right now, but I did post in the Premium Aquatics thread about the recall and Jeremy from PA has replied here, http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=9397436#post9397436 apparently confirming what he was told by Hydor about it being a noise/vibration issue that's affected 2 out of 1000 pumps.

As we all know about how information/misinformation/rumors can spread at the speed of light on the web, and with different vendors giving different information, I'd really like to get something concrete from Hydor directly.

Don't get me wrong.
I'm not implying that any vendor is being dishonest in any way.
I just know how miscommunication can happen.

Just so people know, I was zapped with my hands in the tank and it was determined it was my #3.

I got it from Champion...contacted them tonight, and waiting for response.
