Thanks for the support guys... a few corals are totally bleached but I can see polyps on some of them. I'll just give it some time and hopefully they will recover.
Cheers!

good sign,

all I need to hear now its that my piece is one of the them and were in business...

Actually, your piece was in a relatively sheltered area and is as bushy as ever with no worries at all. Let me know when you want to pick it up.
Cheers!

Well more corals have died over the past few days - so I think I might be scaling back for a while to regroup for a pure SPS tank.
Here are some pics:

yeah that does suck Opie hang in there.
having my own heat spike a couple of weeks ago & watching my
SPS bleach & rtn i all most want to just do LPS zoos & softies,
& now im treating for red bugs again i think this is the last straw
for me if the red bugs come back no more SPS 4 me.

I am thinking about breaking down the tank and starting from scratch again. The only problem is where to house my fish in the mean time since I am so attached to them - I can't bear to let them go :(

I was just going to sell my drop in cyclone chiller cause I got a new one. The new one is a remote mount so I now pump the water to the chiller. After seeing your pics and hearing this sad story I am keeping my old chiller and setting the controller at 82. If the pump fails on my primary chiller the second one will kick on. This may sound a little insane to some people but there is no possible way I can afford to start this all over again (time or money).

Eric...

A very good idea.
I work in IT and a big part of what I do is Disaster recovery - which is why I had a backup pump. I didnt think hot standby would be required but looks like that's what I will need.

Opie,
I am sorry that it was your unfortunate disaster that has given me this opportunity to avoid a potential problem. Unfortunately this is only one of a whole host of problems that can take our tanks inhabitants from us.

Eric...

Hey Opie,

I was looking at the pix again and I bet that LPS will come back. If you want I have an LPS only tank going and I can work on nursing it for you if you breakdown the tank.
