Heater exploded, water still good?

I was making water in my rubbermaid 44 gallon can. I added the salt to the rodi water, put a heater in with a power head for circulation. About an hour later I heard a loud bang. Immediately I ran down stairs to see what made the noise. I followed my nose and after a couple of minutes discovered that it was my glass 300 watt heater in my new water.

Should I toss the water? Hate to throw the money away but would rather be safe. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

id dump it you dont know what kind of metels they had in the heater for the coils or anything i have a heater pm sent

shoot - just sold 3 heaters I had a week or so ago fior $5 each. Two were barely used - picked them up new when a local distributor was going out of business and just used on a couple occassions when I was mixing a lot of water.

oh well. Good move on tossing the water

I wouldn't think the filaments would be anything dangerous...although copper is a good conductor, so may have been used, in which case it's always better safe than sorry. Had 3 pennys fall into my 20 gallon nano about 3 years ago, and that's why I have a 120 now. Everything in the nano started looking stressed (didn't know why) so I moved them all to my 120 FOWLR. Only when I was cleaning the nano about 2 months later did I find the first penny, and then quickly found the second and 3rd. It was a small water column, and longer exposure, but was DEFINITELY why the corals started looking stressed.
