I'm having trouble finding a heater short enough to fit in my sump, I have one but it only keeps water at a consistant 76 degrees. that's ok but i'd like a back up so I cant get temp. up if need be. is it ok to put heater in overflow comp. instead of just in tank, I don't like seeing them in the display tank. Just wondering if it would keep water heated since it was fast moving in there?

Sounds fine to me. Just make sure there is no case in which the overflow drains and leaves the heater exposed to air.
