Heater Recommendations

Wrapping up purchases so I can finish my tank build. Any one with any heater recommendations or things to look for? It's a 125 gallon tank with a 75 gallon sump. I am going to use to smaller heaters but I am not sure which ones to use. I see the Cobalt ones look nice.

Eheim Jaeger, like 2 300watt heaters...be aware, they are LONG, or maybe more smaller ones, but Jaeger's are really reliable

I've read that the titanium heaters are suppose to be more accurate, I figure there would be better heat transfer also, but I'm pretty new at this so......

Note well, however, that it would be highly desirable to run what ever heater you purchase off of a ranco controller (or equivalent) as heater control mechanisms are the highest point of failure and seem to always fail in the on position.

I like the finnex titanium heating tubes being controlled by my apex you can also use the ranco controller which is prolly the best sep heater controller short of an actual aqurium controller. The glass heaters have a bad tendency to fail on and also very susceptible to breaking

I've got 2 300w jagers for my 120. I like they idea of a couple not-so-strong heaters so that if everything goes wrong and the controller poops out simultaneous with a heater failure, it's less likely my tank will get cooked than if I had one super heater.

+1 on this. One Jäger on my old 55. No controller. Decides to fail in the boil water position. Lost EVERYTHING after 5 years because I was out of town when it happened. Well, some detritus survived.

Learned several lessons that weekend. :)

In the summer mine are removed from tank.

In winter they could stay on full blast, and not hurt anything.

Been doing one 300w heater this year for 300g and using house heat to maintain temps more so.

FWIW, I've got an Aquaclear heater that's going on 12+ years now. Set it & forget it...

On a side note; there's always going to be some bad apples no matter what the brand is.
