Heater

Hi
I am planning to do TTM in a 5 gl tank or bucket. I need to purchase heater and found that a 25w heater is good for 5gl.
My question is what if I use a 50w heater which is recommended for 8-16 gl tank. Will it can harm the fish or the system
Thank you

TTM or Tank transfer method is one of the known ways to eliminate ich from a fish. It requires several transfers into new containers every couple days. This is done before putting the fish into your display.

And Yes the heater will be fine, One will run more then the other, but both will work just fine.

Oh, so a conditioned bucket for moving livestock from one tank to another? Everything I do is close proximity. From net to pitcher, pitcher to new tank.

no, Its actually a very effective way of quarantining new fish against ich which requires the fish to be transferred every 48-72 hours to a new sterile tank for a total of 12 days (4-6 transfers) to break the ich life cycle.

That sounds like a pain in the butt. Wouldn't a QT with a high powered, low flow UV be similarly effective?

Though it is possible to kill ich parasites with UV, they are quite large in size. This would prevent the UV to be fully effective.

The tank transfer method more or less elimitates any of the parasites by simply removing them with the water from my understanding.

One quick question.
After 12 days, can I transfer the fish to display or keep it quarantine for few more days.
Thank you,
