Heater

I was thinking about getting a heater for my tank because at night when I put the air on and the lights go out, the temperature gets too cool.

I have a 10 gallon, how many watts of power do I need for it? Or is there a specific type of heater I need to buy?

3 to 5 watts per gallon is the rule of thumb. It is nice to split the load between two heaters so if one goes bad (and they do go bad) it doesn't overheat (stick in the on position) your tank to a point of death or under heat (not turn on). The thought is at least one of the two heaters will work properly. In your case with such a small tank, one 50 watt heater or if you can afford it two 25 watt heaters would be great.
