Heaters for Broodstock and Larval system - which ones?

Hi there. I think equipment is pretty important in some aspects in breeding and culturing marine organisms.

In this respect, I'm curious as which heaters others are using for their broodstock and larval systems.

I know a lot of us do not run large continuous systems, but rather run some type of 'garage operation' or something similar.

I currently run all systems on Ebo Jager heaters. Using 50W and 75W for the small 10 gallons, and 100W for the 20 gallon systems.

A lot of us also do not have funds to attach a Temp Controller to each of our heaters, so with this aside, and just running a heater on its own, which are you choosing to use? or are currently using?

Best,
Ilham

For individual larval tanks, I use Via Aqua Stealth. For Broodstock with a couple of tanks on a central system, I have a couple of Jalli. For the grow out, I got two free Won Pro 350W, but I have them on a Jalli controller.

Stealths on the larval/seperate tanks and Finnex titaniums on the broodstock/larger systems (with their controllers) have never had any issues this these. Had Wons on reef tanks in the past with problems.

I have at least 50 small hetars 50-300 watts. All things said and done I think VisiTherm beats the snot out of EJ for cost and reliability. I have no idea what "stealth" means though. In either case I have found that the calibration is really bad, you need a good thermometer to set them.

Stealth are aluminum heaters with black plastic encasing everything. There is no annoying light that attracts the larvae, and they are unbreakable. They take a little longer to come to temp, but they hold it well. I really like them.

Hmm...

Ok keep them coming :)

I'm open to new heaters, especially if the price is better.

I haven't had problems with Ebo Jagers yet. I even have one of the older "green" style dial ones...and it still works.

I may have to get those Stealth a shot. Right now, I'm covering up those lights on the EBo Jagers for larval tanks.

Best,
Ilham
